📋 Main Requirements
Ways to Obtain Long-Term Residence:
- General Route: Having resided legally and continuously in Spain for 5 years
- Pensioners: Being a beneficiary of a contributory retirement pension or permanent absolute disability/severe disability pension
- Born in Spain: Residing legally for 3 consecutive years upon reaching the age of majority
- Former Spaniards: Having been a Spaniard by origin and having lost nationality
- Wards: Residents under guardianship of a Spanish public entity for 5 consecutive years
- International protection: Stateless persons, refugees or beneficiaries of subsidiary protection
- Notable contribution: Economic, scientific, cultural progress of Spain
Continuity of Residence:
Continuity is NOT interrupted by:
- Absences of up to 6 continuous months (maximum 10 months in 5 years)
- Work-related absences of up to 18 months total in 5 years
- Absences justified by force majeure
Other Requirements:
- No criminal record in Spain or countries of residence
