What it is
The non-lucrative residence is for non-EU nationals who want to reside in Spain without carrying out work or professional activity. The application is usually filed at the Spanish consulate in the applicant's country of residence.

Financial and insurance evidence

- Pension, passive income, dividends, rent or liquid investments.
- Proof of origin and availability of funds.
- Health insurance equivalent to Spanish public healthcare, not travel insurance.
Duration and renewal
The initial authorization is valid for 1 year. Renewal may be granted for 2 years if the requirements continue to be met, including financial means, insurance and, where applicable, schooling of minor children.
